In recognition of the 100th anniversary of Black History Month, Harris | Oakmark’s Employee Experience Group (EEG) and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council (DEI Council) hosted a coffee chat featuring Rana Wright, chief legal and administrative officer, and Joe Allessie, general counsel.
Allessie led the conversation with a series of questions that invited Wright to reflect on her career and lived experiences. Wright spoke candidly about the lessons she has carried forward, the obstacles she has navigated and the mentors and advocates who have provided guidance along the way.
The informal format gave employees a direct, personal understanding of leadership, resilience and the importance of supporting others as they grow in their careers.
“What resonated with me most was Rana’s authenticity,” said Alexis McCall, director of enterprise operations. “It was a powerful reminder that leadership isn’t measured by what we achieve alone, but by how we invest in others – something Rana demonstrated throughout the conversation and continues to model every day.”
